Exhibition “Ukrainian Costumes and Traditions”


Gallery “Dimitar Georgiev” is a co-organizer of the Photo Exhibition “Ukrainian Costumes and Traditions”, dedicated to Ukrainian folk customs, which are an integral part of the cultural heritage of Ukraine.
The exhibition promotes the symbolic meanings of traditional costumes and authentic objects, a source of Ukrainian identity and uniqueness, preserved by previous generations. It is part of the charitable project “Sincere” of the Center “Domosfera” – Kiev. The authors of the idea are Yaroslava Gres and Oleksandr Todorchuk, and the photographs are the work of Dmytro Peretrutov.

The exhibition was opened by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria Her Excellency Ms. Olesya Ilashchuk and the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Plovdiv Mr. Dimitar Georgiev. The Regional Governor of the city of Plovdiv Prof. Hristina Yancheva greeted the guests present and wished the exhibition success. Assoc. Prof. Dr. in Musicology Sofia Ruseva from the Academy of Music and Dance Art “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” introduced the audience to interesting facts about Ukrainian national costumes. Especially for the event, the children’s Ukrainian choir led by Irina Duilovska performed traditional Ukrainian songs.

After the official part, Her Excellency Ms. Olesya Ilashchuk and Ambassadorial Counselor Anna Tertichna talked with Ukrainian refugees who found their second home in Plovdiv.

The exhibition continues until February 5 in the hall of the Union of Bulgarian Artists on Tsar Boris the Third Unifier Blvd.
