Ganchev, Rusi

*1895 1965†

He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1924/ under Prof. Tseno Todorov. A major theme in his paintings were riverscapes: the banks of the Danube, sea and mountain landscapes, along with a few still lifes and portraits. His colour palette was rich, with balanced brightness.


Gancheva, Nevena Dimitrova

*1897 1984†

She obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1922/ under Prof. Stefan Ivanov. Landscapes and portraits prevailed in her work.


Ganushev, Nikola

*1889 1958†

He obtained a degree in painting from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin /1913/ under professors Grosso and Luigi Belli. A war artist during WWI. He rose to prominence with his early art works in the nude genre. The majority of his work represents masterfully painted portraits /not always naturalistically/. He was also a successful church artist.


Genkov, Genko Ivanov

*1923 2006†

He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1948/ under Prof. Dechko Uzunov. His work was marked by expressiveness, on the one hand, in terms of composition and painting style, and also in terms of structure. The colour palette he used was vibrant. Landscapes and portraits prevailed in her work.


Georgiev, Boris Haralampiev

*1888 1962†

He studied painting at the Saint Petersburg Drawing School, directed by Nikolay Roerich. In 1909, he studied painting in Munich under professors Angelo Jank and Peter von Holm. He resided in Italy until 1922. Upon his return to Bulgaria, he met Peter Deunov. He visited India and Brasil. He has been labelled a “spiritual artist” as his work transcended the mission of an artist. His works were elegant and mystical.


Georgiev, Boris Haralampiev

*1906 1987†

He obtained a degree in decoration from the NAA /1930/ under Prof. Stefan Badzhov. Still lifes, landscapes and portraits prevailed in his work. He employed subtle, elegant colours.


Georgiev, Nikola
Dyado Bozhe (Heavenly Father)

*1884 1963†

He graduated the NAA under professors Ivan Angelov and Ivan Mrkvička. He fought in the Balkan War, Second Balkan War and WWI. His works include portraits, genre paintings and still lifes.


Geshev, Yordan

*1907 1973†

He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA under Prof. Haralampi Tachev. He worked exclusively in the field of watercolour landscapes. Geshev demonstrated exceptional mastery of oil painting, creating landscapes with great artistic depth and vibrancy.


Getsov, Ivan

*1910 1991†

He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1938/ under Prof. Dechko Uzunov. He produced portraits, landscapes, figural compositions. Although the colour palette he employed varied in respect of the scene, it was always saturated, creating a clear contrast between light and shade.


Gurnev Kocho
(Kostadin Georgiev Gurnev)

*1894 1966†

He studied painting at the NAA /1920 – 1924/ under professors Ivan Angelov and Ivan Mrkvička. Later he moved to Munich, where he obtained a degree in painting at the Academy of Arts /1930/ under professors Hermann Groeber and Franz von Stuck. The majority of his paintings are believed to have been lost during WWII. His works are characterized by expressiveness and synthesized forms and colours.
