He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1921/ under Prof. Ivan Mrkvička. His work comprises a great deal of portraits of Renaissance figures and prominent contemporaries of his, as well as cycles of watercolours landscapes. They are colourful, exhibiting a subtle secessionist manner.
Karamihaylova, Elena
(Elena Karamihaylova Yaneva)

She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna /1895-1896/ under Prof. H. Streblov. She attended private academies in Munich /1898-1910/ under professors Heinrich Knirr’, Angelo Jank and Christian Landerberg. French Impressionism had a major influence on her. She worked in all painting genres, with a preference for genre compositions and still lifes.
Kavarnaliev, Hristo Nikolov
*1892 — 1951†
He graduated from the NAA /1915/ under professors Ivan Mrkvička, Anton Mitov, Ivan Angelov and Yaroslav Veshin. He completed a two-year specialization at the School of Franz Stuck in Berlin. A foremost marine artist. He also produced graphics.
Kazakov, Dimitar
(Nero)
*1933 — 1992†
He obtained a degree in graphics from the NAA /1965/ under Prof. Evtim Tomov. His art exhibited a unique representation of genre and folklore motifs achieved through the artist’s distinctive use of deformation and stylization. He employed various techniques and materials. His works are displayed in prestigious museums across the world.
Kolev, Boris
*1906 — 1982†
He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1932/ under Prof. Tseno Todorov. He specialized in Art History in Vienna /1943-1944/ under Prof. Zaloznesky. Landscapes, portraits and figural compositions were his preferred field of work. He authored 16 monographies, manuals, reviews and articles on art. Kolev favoured warm colours, produced paintings with vast firmaments, transmitting a sense of volume and spaciousness.
Kozhuharov, Nikola Atanasov
*1892 — 1971†
He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1915/ under Prof. Ivan Mrkvička. He specialized at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris under Fernand Cormon. Kozhuharov produced compositions on historical, war and everyday life themes. His manner was realistic. He was one of the pioneers in the battle genre of Bulgarian fine art. Scenography was another field he worked in. He produced mural paintings, as well as several monumental plastics. He painted portraits and landscapes. Oil paints were his preferred medium, however watercolours and graphics, illustrations, etc. were also present in his work, which exhibits the influence of secessionist style.
Kyoseiliev, Georgi
*1935 — 2010†
He obtained a degree in mural painting from the NAA under Prof. Iliya Petrov. He painted landscapes, portraits and figural compositions on historical and everyday-life themes, in keeping with the trends of 1960s Bulgarian art.
Kyuvliev, Yordan
*1877 — 1910†
He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp /1898-1902/. He was one of the pioneers in en plein air painting in Bulgarian paintings. He was a prominent landscape and marine artist. His colour range was striking and intense, which was not typical of the era.
