Lavrenov, Tsanko Ivanov
*1896 — 1978†
After finishing the French College in Plovdiv, he attended a private art school in Vienna /1920 – 1921/. His works are constituted upon continuity in Bulgarian Renaissance painting traditions. His compositions are marked by distinctive stylization, focus on detail and decorative colours. Landscapes from Mount Athos make up a significant part of his art.
Lukova, Vera
*1907 — 1974†
She graduated from the NAA /1930/ under Prof. Boris Mitov. She painted portraits, still lifes and landscapes. In her early days as an artist, she created a succession of portraits of writers, painters and artists. She possessed the gift and manner of a modern European artist, without being too indebted to modernism.
Lyutov, Mihail Ivanov
*1887 — 1965†
He graduated from the NAA /1916/ under professors Ivan Angelov and Ivan Mrkvička. A war artist during WWI /1914 – 1918/. He produced portraits, landscapes and figural compositions, including mythological scenes. Between 1922 and 1940, he lived in Berlin, and then in the Czech Republic from 1943 until 1948.
