Oberbauer, Joseph Sebastian

*1853 1926†

An Austrian artist. He spent two years as a student at the Art Academy in Vienna. After 1889, he settled down in Bulgaria. He created multiple watercolour works, reflecting life in Sofia and its face as it once was – the architecture of churches, monasteries, inns, streets, bazaars, archaeological sites, etc., some of which had already disappeared.


Obreshkov, Bencho Yordanov

He attended the NAA /1918-1920/ under professors Petko Klisurov and Ivan Angelov. He obtained a degree in painting from the Art Academy in Dresden /1926/ under professors Oscar Kokoschka and Otto Dix. Obreshkov stretched across various genres with a predilection for landscapes and still lifes. His works exhibited ingenuity, reflecting the modern Bulgarian painting tradition of the 1930s as characterized by complex scenes and an innovative treatment of form and colour.
