Raynov, Nikolay Ivanov

*1889 1954†

A philosopher, art critic, translator, writer and artist. He graduated from the Sofia School of Theology /1908/. He studied philosophy at the Sofia University /1911/. Raynov took part in the Balkan War and WWI as a war correspondent. A decoration artist, skillful master of illustration, vignettes and book design. He experimented with various painting and graphic techniques: watercolours, tempera, ink, varnish on tinfoil, woodcut, linocut. The aesthetics of secession had a major influence on him.


Rilski, Vladimir Georgiev

*1905 1969†

He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1929/ under Prof. Dimitar Gyudzhenov. He painted landscapes and portraits, noted for the author’s original stylization of form and a characteristic Bulgarian atmosphere.
