Yanakiev, Nikolay Georgiev

He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1981/ under Prof. Svetlin Rusev. He creates landscapes, portraits and still lifes. Yanakiev also creates entirely abstract works. His palette of colours is bright, saturated, often featuring neon colours as highlights.


Yanev, Zhivko

*1954

He enrolled at the NAA /1979/. He won a competition for education at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg / 1980 /, where he graduated / 1985 /. In terms of structure and colour palette, his works exhibit stained glass characteristics. Yanev produces landscapes, still lifes and figural compositions, with fantasy and ethnic elements.


Yonchev, Hristo Zafirov

He graduated from the NAA /1912/ under professors Ivan Mrkvička and Ivan Angelov. A master of mountain landscapes, especially from the Rila Mountain. He possessed a distinct painting style. A unique characteristic of his was his manner of applying large brushstrokes in his watercolour works, which is more common in oil paintings.


Yosifova, Ana Hen

*1872 1931†

The first female Bulgarian artist to receive artistic education abroad. She studied in Germany and specialized in the Netherlands. Her works were produced with oil paints and watercolours; flowers were her preferred subject. She was skilled in watercolour painting and still lifes in oils.


Yurdanova, Zina

*1904 1998†

She studied painting at the NAA /1923-1926/ under Prof. Stefan Ivanov. She graduated in Munich under professors Moritz Heinemann and Carl von Marr. Originally, she painted mostly portraits, and later she expanded over to landscapes, still lifes and figural compositions. Yurdanova painted with watercolours, tempera and oil paints, and 1972, she also adopted acrylics.
