He obtained a degree in painting from the NAA /1932/ under Prof. Tseno Todorov. His work is generally divided into two main periods: before and after suffering from hemiparesis. The former is characterized by a predilection for everyday-life scenes and portraits, and a style, influenced by Dutch painting trends from the 16-17th century. The works from his second period, or “left-hand” period, are distinguished by an expressive manner of painting, combined with fairy-tale and often symbolic images and compositions from pastoral life. His interest in portraits and landscapes persisted. He is one of the three “Hounds”.
