Kozhuharov produced compositions on historical, war and everyday life themes. His manner was realistic. He was one of the pioneers in the battle genre of Bulgarian fine art. Scenography was another field he worked in. He produced mural paintings, as well as several monumental plastics. He painted portraits and landscapes. Oil paints were his preferred medium, however watercolours and graphics, illustrations, etc. were also present in his work, which exhibits the influence of secessionist style.
