During the forum, the problems of Ukrainian refugees were discussed and options for a legal response were discussed to solve the difficulties that hinder their cultural adaptation and social integration in the Bulgarian society for the creation of a Handbook that practically helps how to solve their problems faster and what are the ways of good communication with the institutions.
The honorary consul of Ukraine in Plovdiv – Eng. Dimitar Georgiev, who since the beginning of the war in Ukraine actively assisted in the reception and accommodation of Ukrainian refugees and knows the basics of the difficulties and problems surrounding their residence, took an active part in the forum, as well as Deputy the mayor for social activities, Mr. Georgi Tityukov and Mrs. Nataliya Ellis, chairperson of the Ukraine Support & Renovation Foundation, the ombudsman in Plovdiv. The meeting was attended by Mrs. Seda Kuzudzu, representative of the High Commissioner for Refugees to the United Nations in Bulgaria, and her colleagues Mr. Boris Cheshirkov – adviser on communications and Mrs. Petya Karayaneva – adviser on refugee protection. From the Municipality of Plovdiv, Mrs. Veselin Boteva – director of the Social Policy Directorate, Mr. Petar Gramatikov – the expert on religious issues and ombudsman Mr. Borislav Stamatov, as well as representatives of the Labor Bureau, Regional Health Inspectorate, Higher Education participated in the discussion establishments, non-governmental organizations and journalists.
The most frequently stated problems of people fleeing the war are related to the legalization of documents, health insurance, finding a qualified job in specialties of higher education graduates, continuing education, and a number of other problems for the normal cultural adaptation and social integration of Ukrainian refugees.
