The Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Assen Diamandiev” – Plovdiv opened the fifth edition of the international scientific conference “Science, Education and Innovation in the Field of Art”. The two-day forum aims to create an academic platform for the exchange of ideas and research, uniting different fields of knowledge and art.

“This conference has the ambitious but deeply meaningful goal – to create an academic environment for scientists from different fields of knowledge to present and interpret the evolutionary and revolutionary processes in science and culture, and to share their research, ideas and achievements,” said Prof. Dr. Vessela Kazashka, organizer and head of the forum, in her welcome speech.

She pointed out that this year the international scientific conference will be attended by established and young scientists from Bulgaria and abroad – representatives of Romania, the USA and China. “We especially appreciate the active participation of artists and researchers from the Academy of Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev”, “Paisiy Hilendarski” University, National Academy of Arts – Sofia, Agricultural University – Plovdiv, the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with the Ethnographic Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as well as from the New Bulgarian University – Sofia. This year, a total of 71 participants have registered for the conference,” she said.

According to her, the international presence and active participation of young researchers prove that the conference is fulfilling its mission – to integrate the scientific community into a common research and educational space, where knowledge is shared freely and ideas become common inspiration. She pointed out that the current forum is organized with an interdisciplinary approach and includes three thematic panels: “Education and Management”; “Music and Dance Art” and “Fine Arts and Design.” “The synergy between these fields reflects the belief that science and art are not separate worlds, but mutually enrich each other and together build the cultural and intellectual fabric of modern society,” added Prof. Dr. Kazashka.

She specified that all reports will be peer-reviewed and published in a collection, and open access to scientific developments is further evidence of the organizers’ pursuit of transparency and knowledge sharing.

“I thank all of you, without whom this conference would not have been possible. Thank you for the creative and scientific insights you present to us, for the straightforward path you are taking towards new civilizational messages,” said Prof. Dr. Kazashka. She also expressed gratitude to the colleagues who have fully dedicatedly participated in the organization of the conference and to all who have supported the idea and shared their vision.

Prof. Dr. Emilia Konstantinova, manager of the Dimitar Georgiev Gallery, who welcomed the guests as the host of today’s event, said that they were in one of the significant cultural spaces in Plovdiv, dedicated to the preservation and presentation of Bulgarian fine arts. “Its halls exhibit works by a number of prominent authors who have left a lasting mark not only in national but also in European art history.” She emphasized that visitors to the gallery have the opportunity to experience the richest collection of works by artists who laid the foundations of the “Native Art” movement. “Inspired by the idea of showing Bulgaria as an inseparable part of the European cultural map, these artists are united around a common mission – to present the young post-liberation state as an equal cultural partner of established European nations such as Switzerland, France, Germany and Italy,” said Prof. Konstantinova.

The collection of the Dimitar Georgiev Gallery presents works in various genres – still life, landscape, marine art, watercolor, and especially impressive is the rich share of portrait art, rarely found in private collections. “Every visitor can find something new and exciting here, regardless of their artistic experience and taste,” she added.

The rector of the AMTII “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhan Pehlivanov greeted the participants and officially opened the conference, which began with the report of Dr. Angel Marinov from the Agricultural University-Plovdiv. “The uniqueness of film dialogue in comparison with theatrical dialogic speech”.

Among the guests of the conference are researchers such as Prof. Dr. Viorel Agiana from Bucharest, Romania – a specialist in speech therapy, inclusive education and children’s rights, and Prof. Dr. Stella Miteva-Dinkova, Vice-Rector of AMTII and winner of numerous awards for classical guitar interpretation, creator of collections of Bulgarian guitar music and active participant in international festivals.

“The fifth international scientific conference “Science, Education and Innovation in the Field of Art” is already a traditional edition of a conference, the beginning of which we set in 2017 together with Prof. Dr. Toni Shekerdzhieva-Novak. Back then, our vision for the future was a bold dream, today it is already a reality and a tradition,” Prof. Dr. Vessela Kazashka told BTA. She pointed out that what is different about this edition is that in addition to all 71 participants and guests invited from various universities in the country and abroad, the AMTII “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” is going beyond its territory and space. “For the first year, the International Scientific Conference is being held in the “Dimitar Georgiev” Gallery in the city of Plovdiv – an artistic place, which is again connected, of course, with our views on art and the popularization of art,” she said and emphasized the high assessment of the conference that the Scientific Research Fund gives, supporting the forum once again.

Nikol Manolova from Plovdiv University “Paisiy Hilendarski”, who is participating in the conference for the second time, told BTA that she is pleased to participate because technologies are an integral part of development and their integration into the arts is of paramount importance. “Even my project, which is actually in the field of programming, is appropriately connected to the topic of the conference, because it is a social platform for art history, this is one of the directions of the academy – the development of fine arts, theoretical disciplines in the field of art and implies a successful integration of educational elements, theory, as well as digital transformation,” the student said.

“As a teacher in the field of arts, my participation in the fifth edition of the scientific conference is an extremely exciting event, because I have the opportunity to share ideas and exchange experiences with excellent teachers and musicians. The study on which my report is based presents the point of view of over 50 classical guitar teachers from Bulgaria and around the world, and I believe that it can serve as a good basis for improving the teaching process,” said Ioana Tiholova, a participant in the conference and a teacher at the National School of Music and Dance Art “Dobrin Petkov”-Plovdiv, to BTA.

The new book “Women in Science and Art. Freedom, Talent and Creation” was also presented at the conference, which is the eighth in the series dedicated to people of art and science. The interviews were conducted by journalist Vanya Draganova, compiled by Prof. Dr. Vessela Kazashka, and edited by Shinka Dicheva.

The forum, which continues tomorrow, aims to create an academic environment for scientists from different fields of knowledge to present and interpret evolutionary and revolutionary processes related to science and culture, as well as to share scientific works from different disciplines.
