Dimitar Georgiev Gallery presents Yordan Velchev, one of Bulgaria’s most important contemporary graphic artists. The exhibition of 28 graphics and drawings was opened on 20.09.2023, on the eve of the celebrations on the occasion of Bulgaria’s Independence Day.
Yordan Velchev rarely presents his works on the Bulgarian art scene, although over the years of his creative path his name is associated with the design and implementation of monumental projects for the aestheticization of the urban environment in Bulgaria and with a number of exquisite illustrations of dozens of books by Bulgarian and foreign authors .
For his solo exhibition on the occasion of the celebration of the Independence of Bulgaria, the author has chosen to show works related to the history of Bulgaria and emblematic Bulgarian personalities – revolutionaries, writers, intellectuals, artists. The public will see the portraits of Vasil Levski, Hristo Botev, Hristo G. Danov, Boris Hristov, Nikolay Gyaurov and others. recreated with a characteristic author’s handwriting.
