He obtained a degree in decoration from the NAA /1929/ under Prof. Stefan Badzhov. He specialized in painting in Paris /1930 – 1932/ at the atelier of Prof. Paul Laurent. Staykov painted genre compositions, interiors and landscapes in two styles – realistic and decorative.
