A workshop in the framework of the project “Media Literacy for Critical Thinking”, funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US State Department with the Meridian International Center as an implementation partner was held at Dimitar Georgiev Gallery.
Media literacy is a set of skills that enable citizens to create and disseminate media messages, to demonstrate an understanding of the specific qualities of each media, and to participate as active citizens in public debate. Basic concepts/key questions about media literacy will be introduced through the Media Literacy Smartphone, a tool developed by the Media Education Lab experts. Smartphone media literacy is applicable to learners of all ages. This will allow librarians and community center activists to develop their own workshops for both adults and children. The media literacy course developed within the project will be provided to community centers in Bulgaria and other interested civil organizations and educational institutions.
