Museum Gallery “Dimitar Georgiev” with a donation to the “Ivan Vazov” National Library

On June 23 at Museum Gallery “Dimitar Georgiev” in Plovdiv, Dimitar Georgiev, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Plovdiv, presented a luxury album, Dimitar Georgiev Collection, Part I, to the Plovdiv National Library. Dimitar Minev, director of the library, accepted the gift with gratitude.

The donation initiative is part of the museum gallery’s activity to promote Bulgarian fine arts by providing wider access to information about important Bulgarian authors who have left traces in the development of European cultural history.

Works from private collections must be exhibited to the general public. Sometimes they contain rare works that give a richer idea of the work of an author or an entire period of development of fine arts. For state museum institutions, acquisition is an even more difficult task today, due to a lack of funding and the publishing of catalogs. And it’s not just about museums. Libraries, as a valuable source of collected information for the public domain, make a significant contribution, not only to the cultural education of the nation, but also to the development of research and scientific activity. Therefore, donation of rare editions for generations should be stimulated and welcomed, which is one of the main tasks of the gallery’s team.
