Dimitar Georgiev Gallery hosted a sculpture exhibition by Valentina Zlatarova as part of the Autumn International Theater Festival “Scene at the Crossroads”.
Valentina Zlatarova graduated from the national art high school “Tsanko Lavrenov” in her native Plovdiv with a degree in “Sculpture”. In 2004, she moved to Italy, where she was accepted into the sculpture program at the Florence Academy of Art. During her final year of study, she accepted an invitation to join the academy’s teaching staff. Valentina’s next stop is London, where she continues her career as a professional artist and teacher. There she taught at The Art Academy London and at the London Atelier of Representational Art. Followed by the Swedish branch of Florence Academy of Art, Barcelona Academy of Art in Spain and many private studios throughout Europe. Since 2015, her time has been divided between England and Barcelona, where she continues to develop her private practice.
Valentina Zlatarova is the winner of the Founder’s Sculpture prize of The Worshipful Company of Founders for figurative sculpture and has twice been awarded the Tiranti Award of the London Society of Portrait Sculptors for services in the field of portraiture.
Valentina’s main interest has always been the human form recreated from nature and the use of natural sustainable materials. Recently, she has been developing new ideas related to the study of abstract and figurative forms and their relationship with their surroundings.
On the few days of the year when she is in Bulgaria, Valentina always steals time for the theater. “Row 8, place 14” will present works inspired by the repertoire of the Drama Theater – Plovdiv from recent years. Each of the sculptures is a reflection of the artist’s personal experience as a spectator of the productions “Euridice in the Underworld”, “Exaltation”, “Odyssey”, “Silk” and “On Folk Creativity”. The exhibition also includes other works related to the theater.
